The Austrian Pine, scientific name Pinus nigra, is a densely branched conifer tree that produces long dark needles. This evergreen pine tree thrives in urban locations as well as a windbreaker in more rural settings.
The Austrian Pine does very well in a variety of soils and is a very hardy tree. The spreading branches of a young Austrian Pine form a pyramidal shape, but at maturity, it has been known to achieve a picturesque flat topped head.
This fast growing conifer tree makes an excellent Christmas tree. The Austrian Pine will tolerate limestone or acidic soils, dry rocky locations and windy conditions.
